Jeopardy! contestant Dave Rapp admits hes frazzled mid-game & reveals he made huge blunder

Publish date: 2024-03-29

JEOPARDY champion contestant Dave Rapp has confessed that he's struggling to keep it together despite appearing to be calm.

Dave shared an embarrassing story mid-game as Jeopardy host Ken Jennings checked in with each player in the ongoing Champions Wildcard Tournament on Thursday.

Competing on today's episode were past Jeopardy winners, writer Dave, project manager Emily Sands, and program support specialist Yoshie Hill.

Midway through the game, Ken, 49, briefly asked about each participant's particular quirks, starting with Yoshie.

Ken asked her about her habit of cramming.

Yoshie clarified that she "never crams" for Jeopardy, and always sets time for herself to "study for it."

Emily and Ken discussed the interaction she had with the late Jeopardy host Alex Trebek before his passing in 2020.

Ken talked to Dave about what's it like being a Jeopardy contestant for him.

"People don't understand this, but a Jeopardy appearance, whether it's a win or a loss, can be a little bit flustering, am I right?," Ken, who is also a former Jeopardy champ, asked Dave.

"Absolutely. I don't know why people think I'm calm up here. I am not," the red mohawk-wearing contestant stated.

DUDE WHERE'S MY CAR?

He revealed that after he won his first Jeopardy game, he was "very excited, but mostly shellshocked."

Dave added when he went to the Sony Pictures Studios parking garage to leave after he achieved victory, he "realized he had know idea" where his car was parked.

Sony Pictures Studios is where Jeopardy is filmed.

"I'm wandering around with my clothes until a wardrobe assistant took pity on me and helped me find my car," Dave joked.

Dave made it to Final Jeopardy with $11.8K, putting him in second place.

Emily possessed $25.8K during Final Jeopardy, and Yoshie had $9.2K.

Dave missed the last clue, however, Emily didn't, which kept her on top.

Emily won the game, pocketing $25.8K and progressing to the Jeopardy Finals.

Dave did at least take home $11.8K since he waged $0 in the final round.

WILD DO

Dave had fans buzzing with his wild hairdo and an even wilder comeback on Wednesday's episode.

He revealed he was "told" to redye his hair for Champions Wildcard before going all-in on a Daily Double just moments from Final Jeopardy.

He explained: “The mohawk is a different color. When I came on before, it was purple, my favorite color."

However, Dave was asked to change the color for his return: "I was told that it blended into the set too much.

"But I wouldn't want to be accused of being subtle," he joked.

"So I went to my daughters and came up with a look that really popped this time."

Ken replied on Dave's new look: “It really does, and we could have changed the color of the set for you. We are flexible," adding it “looks great.”

Past players were invited to Champions Wildcard by being brief winners from Seasons 37 or 38, and Dave boasted the best stats going in with three wins and $69,200 in 2022.

SHOCKING MOVE

Dave shocked the audience by going all-in during yesterday's Double Jeopardy round.

One of his opponents. said: “Wow, way to go" off camera. “That’s a big risk,” Ken warned.

Under: “I’m On The Case,” the clue read: “Brush up on Earl Warren's opinion for the 5-4 majority in 1966 on this man v. Arizona, regarding police questioning.”

Dave was correct instantly, with “Miranda,” leaping to $18,000 and the lead as the audience roared.

Scores going into Final Jeopardy: Dave suddenly had $18,400, Dana and Nancy $8,400.

Final Jeopardy! Under “21st Century Presidential Elections,” read: “It was the first election since 1952 in which neither the incumbent president nor the incumbent vice president was a candidate.”

Nancy was incorrect with “2004,” dropping $2000; Dana didn't finish her response losing all her earnings and looking peeved.

Dave sealed the deal by being the only one correct with “2008” referring to Obama and McCain, adding $10,000 and reacting in near-tears as he won.

One fan wrote in a Reddit thread after the episode aired: “Rooting for Dave, for obvious reasons!
