Melanie Griffith is an American actress. She first gained recognition playing a stockbroker's secretary in the 1988 film Working Girl, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in 1989. Griffith's first major leading roles included Body Double (1984), Milk Money (1994), Now and Then (1995) and Lolita (1997). Griffith also starred as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production Chicago in 1996. In 2000, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actress for RKO 281. Griffith is the daughter of The Birds star Tippi Hedren.
